Off the train, take the escalator down to B1. Follow the "도시철도 부산역 / Busan Metro" signs. The underground shopping arcade leads you straight to the Line 1 gates. No need to go outside.

Exits 1 through 8 of the metro station all lead to the station square. None of them strand you on the wrong side. Come up anywhere and reorient from the square.

The Busan metro charges by distance: zone 1 or zone 2. Single-ride ticket machines take cash only, one more reason to sort your T-money first. City buses also take T-money or cash only; international credit cards do not work.
By subway
The cheapest way in. Follow the line and the direction exactly as written.

How do I get from Busan Station to Gwangalli?
Two ways. By subway: board Line 1 toward Nopo, transfer at Seomyeon to Line 2 toward Jangsan, and get off at Gwangan. That is ₩1,800 with T-money, since the trip is over 10 km. By bus: the number 41 city bus runs from Busan Station and stops on the Gwangalli beachfront road, with no transfers.

Yes. The Gwangalli Tourist Information Center (219 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro, mid-beach) offers free luggage storage, roughly 10:00–19:00 (extended on summer evenings), with an ID and a short form. If your bag is small and your timing fits, use it. It is first-come-first-served though, and closes with the center.
