Why Leaving Bags at Your Hotel Backfires

Hotels will hold bags after check-out — the trap is the route. If your hotel is in northern Seoul and your last stop is Gangnam, you'll burn an hour-plus round trip just retrieving luggage, then drag it through rush-hour subway. Airbnbs and unstaffed stays often can't hold bags at all. Your luggage belongs in the neighborhood where you'll spend your final hours — that turns pickup-to-airport into a single straight line.

Final Half-Day Plans by Neighborhood

Each option pairs a neighborhood, a storage spot, and the airport route out. (Check each store's page for opening hours and days off before booking.)

• Hongdae · Yeonnam: bags at Hapenstance (24H), Vanguard, or Sideway → Yeonnam brunch and last shopping → all-stop AREX from Hongik Univ. Station, ~50 min to T1. The classic evening-flight route.
• Myeongdong · City Hall: bags at Hoduga City Hall → Myeongdong shopping, Deoksugung walk → AREX from Seoul Station. Express-ticket holders can even check in and drop bags downtown at the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal (05:20–19:00).
• Dongdaemun: bags at Bean Mamapapa → Gwangjang Market snacks, DDP → Seoul Station, then AREX. Best if souvenir and food shopping is still on the list.
• Seongsu · Sinsa: bags at Unlign (Seongsu) or Cooing Camus (Garosugil) → cafes, pop-ups, shopping → subway to Seoul Station or an airport bus. For wrapping up a Gangnam-side itinerary.

Count-Backward Timing Table

Arriving 3 hours before an international departure is the safe standard (peak season, checked bags). Counting backward:

• 7 PM flight → at the airport by 4 PM → pick up bags and leave Hongdae by 3 PM, Myeongdong/Dongdaemun by 2:30 PM
• 9 PM flight → at the airport by 6 PM → leave downtown around 5 PM — a full final half-day is yours
• Flying from T2 (Korean Air, Asiana and affiliates)? Add ~8 minutes by train, 15–20 by bus over T1
• Evening rush (5–7 PM) makes airport buses traffic-risky — when it's tight, the train is the safe call

The Pickup Checklist
